Surf hat or surf helmet hat? Find yours

Two products, one decision. Here is how to choose in under two minutes.

The Surf Hat (49€)

Sun cover for long sessions: UPF 50+ fabric, a hard 360° brim that holds its shape through duck dives and onshore wind, adjustable fit, and it floats. If your main enemy is the sun, this is your hat.

The Surf Helmet Hat (69€)

The same hat, plus a removable insert that absorbs board and wipe-out impacts, yours and other people's. If you surf crowded lineups, are learning and still meet your own board more than you'd like, or you kite and want sun cover with something extra under it, take the helmet hat.

Being straight with you: it is not a certified helmet, it does not cover the back of your head or your neck, and it is made for waves up to 2 m. It is built for the impacts that actually happen in a crowded lineup.

Which one is for you?

  • Long sunny sessions, uncrowded spots: Surf Hat.
  • Crowded lineups, beginner to intermediate, board fear: Surf Helmet Hat.
  • Kitesurf and wing: Surf Helmet Hat. Sun cover that stays on, with impact absorption under it.
  • Not sure: Surf Helmet Hat. You can always take the insert out and wear it as a surf hat.

Pick your size

Measure your head just above your ears. S/M fits 55 to 58 cm, M/L fits 58 to 61 cm. Exactly 58 cm? Choose M/L, the adjuster tightens the fit. Full details in the Size Guide.

Pick your color

Every model comes in colors that look good in and out of the water. When a color sells out, it is gone until the next small batch, so if you see yours, take it.
